Kaieteur News – Two bandits armed with a gun and cutlass reportedly attacked and robbed two men: Michael Chunoo and Gordon Benn of Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje Berbice.
Police said the robbery took place on Sunday at about 19:40hrs when the criminals entered the home of the men. They hid their faces with a piece of cloth tied around their mouths. One of them was holding a small handgun while the other brandished a 22″ cutlass.
Chunoo told police they were imbibing when the men ran in on them. One perpetrator dealt Chunoo a lash to his head with the cutlass while the other perpetrator shot Benn on his right leg. The bandits then stole one LG cellphone valued at $60,000 and escaped. Both victims were treated at the New Amsterdam Hospital and while Chunoo was released, Benn remains a patient and has been transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
