Kaieteur News – No73 Young Warriors have joined the other three teams that had earlier advanced to the semifinals of the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association/ Vishnu Superstore Vishnu 50 overs cricket competition. Their quarter final game against Skeldon Community Center had been rained out earlier and had to be rescheduled.
Results of the game saw No73 Young Warriors getting the better of Skeldon Community Development Centre by 29 runs.
Batting first the Warriors could only make 93 in 32.2 overs which turned out to be good enough. Chandardat Nankumar 21, Mahandra Mallay 18 and extras 23 were the main contributors.
Bowling for Skeldon CDC, Nicolas Seekumar, Mahendra Chitnarine and Aseef Hussein picked up 2 wickets each. They in return found the Warriors bowling too much to handle and were skittled out for 64 in 18.4 overs with extras contributing 17.
Bowling for the winners, Asad Mahadeo with 4 wickets and Lakeram Latchman with 3 were the men doing the damage.
They will now meet No70 MYO in their semifinal clash, while No72 Cut and Load and No68 Turn Team will play in the other.
The competition began with 30 teams participating. Former Guyana Wicket Keeper batsman Sydney Jackman is the coordinator. (Samuel Whyte)
