Kaieteur News – Two of Archery Guyana’s members, namely Wayne DeAbreu and Devin Persaud Permaul, are going to be participating in the XXVI Pan American and V Para-Pan American Archery Championships in Santiago, Chile from November 21-27, 2022.
This tournament is a World Ranking Event and will be the main Qualifier Tournament for the SANTIAGO 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games. The tournament is being held at the Bernardo O’Higgins National Military Academy in Las Condes County in the capital city, Santiago.
Wayne DeAbreu, when contacted for his thoughts prior to this event opined: “I am happy to be competing on an international level again as the world has been a mess the last few years, I can’t convey the pride that is felt attending these competitions seeing the Guyana flag on display and knowing it is because you are there representing your country.”
Mr. DeAbreu went on to share that: “I have been practicing as often as a job and family allows, really trying to nail down that ‘feel’ that accompanies that perfect shot. I am very excited to do my best, and learn and grow from the experience, I am most grateful to Archery Guyana and the Government of Guyana for making this trip possible.”
The Board of Directors wishes its two members all the best in Chile and encourages Guyana to stand before them as they represent GUYANA on the international stage.
