Atlantic Marine Supplies Inc/Susuki Motor Cycles T20 Tournament…

In scorching heat yesterday in the City, the second round of matches in the inaugural Atlantic Marine Supplies Inc/Susuki Motor Cycles second division T20 Cricket tournament were held at Bourda, DCC and Malteenoes.
On a day in which six matches were contested at three grounds MYO, DCC, Police, GCC, TSC and QC were in winner’s row.
In the morning game at DCC, MYO destroyed Diplomats by 10 wickets after dismantling them for 52 in 10.1 overs and racing to 53 without loss in 3.5 overs.
Diplomats batted first on a good track and lightning fast and small outfield, but only Delon Collins whose first four scoring shots were boundaries, made 20 as nobody else offered support.
Christopher Surat had 3-12 and got support from Jamal Major (2-7) and National U-19 player Jonathan Rampersaud (2-12) as the main wicket takers for MYO.
When the Woolford Avenue side began their reply with all guns blazing, the right-handed Ravindra Rodrigues hit an explosive 31 with four fours and two straight sixes while Rudolph Singh was on seven.
In the afternoon game at DCC, the host defeated Third Class by 10 wickets after being led by 29 from Joshua Persaud and 20 from Sachin Singh. DCC reached 53 without loss in reply to Third Classes 52-9 in 20 overs.
Persaud (3-21) had a good all round performance while Carlton Jacques and Daniel Mootoo captured two wickets each.
At GCC, in the morning game, Sophia conceded the match to Transport Sports Club (TSC) after two the former was restricted to 91 – 9 when their 20 overs expired.
Anand Persaud and Stevin Rose made 14 each while both Dwayne Peters and Ryan Seecharran were the only other batters to reach double figures with 11 each.
Guyana U-15 Captain Dave Mohabir had 2-12 while off-spinner Rapheal Singh took 2-20.
At GCC in the afternoon game, the host led by a 50-run third wicket stand between Skipper Devon Lord, who made 31 from 23 balls with one four and a six and National U-19 batter Mahendra Dindyal, whose 31 came from 34 balls and included two sixes.
The pair was separated when Lord ignored a call for a second run and both batters ended in the same crease as the free-flowing Dindyal was run out by the length of the pitch.
Rovaldo Phillips chipped in with 19 to rally GCC to 135-6 as Wayne Thayne had 2-29 for Everest who were restricted to 85-8 in 20 overs, despite a fighting 32 from Troy Gonsalves.
Layrel Parks had 3-8 and Bernard Bailey 2-7 for GCC.
At Queen’s College ground, Ace Warriors lost to the home team by two wickets as Jonte Thomas with 36 from 34 balls with four sixes and Kishan Persaud, who scored 33 with three fours and a six, led QC also aided by 24 extras, to 126-8 in 18.3 overs. They made that in reply to Ace Warriors’ 122 all out in 18.1 overs.
Gary Ross and Jaden Alves took three wickets each while Sunil Ramlall had two for QC as Roger Aarons, with 29 with two fours and a six and Mortland Ward with two sixes and two fours reached 20 for Ace Warriors.
In the afternoon game at QC, Bel Air Rubis were led by a 51-ball 79 with five fours and five sixes and 27 from Michael Bascome as they were dismissed for 168 in 19.5 overs.
Quintin Sampson, Keston Harcourt, Imran Mohammed and Pernell London picked up two wickets each for Police, who earlier made 183-9 when their 20 overs expired.
Police were given a good start by Troy Benn, whose 46-ball 57 was decorated with two fours and a couple of sixes and Kevin Christian, who hit two sixes and a four in 26. Number three batter Lennox Andrews clobbered two sixes and two fours in his 29.
For the opposition,Travis Persaud captured 4-28 while Terrence King and Arun Gainda supported with two wickets each.
