Kaieteur News – Police have arrested two men accused of stabbing and robbing two cousins on Tuesday at a stall along the Charity Public Road, Essequibo, Region Two after they refused to buy one of them a beer.
The victims were identified as Rolin Benn, a fisherman and his cousin, Kunraj Benn, both of Charity Extension Scheme. According to police, the cousins were reportedly drinking alcohol at Joey’s stall with a woman when one of the suspects approached and asked them to buy him a beer. They both refused and it was at this point that the second suspect came up and started beating Rolin while the other pelted him with a glass bottle to his face.
He was then stabbed to the back with a pair of scissors while the other suspect raided his pocket and stole $25,000 cash. Rolin was also relieved of his cellular phone by the suspect who had stabbed him. Rolin’s cousin, Kunraj tried to save him but he was stabbed too in the process. They both received medical treatment at the Oscar Joseph District Hospital at Charity. Kunraj was admitted while Rolin was discharged. Police have since managed to arrest the suspects as investigations continue.
