Marcus Nandu hit an impressive, unbeaten 91 to lead Kaieteur to an exciting four-wicket win over Brampton XI last Saturday in the Brampton-Etobicoke and District Cricket League Conference B Premier 50-over competition.
Playing at Laurel Creek Park ground in Waterloo, West Toronto, Nandu struck eight fours during his 99-ball stay at the crease, ensuring his team safely reached 229-6 with 17 balls left.
Brampton XI had earlier made a challenging 228-7 from the allotment of 50-overs.
Nandu, the elder brother of West Indies Under-19 player Matthew Nandu and the son of former Guyana first-class player Arjune Nandu, got support from Mahendra Jaipersaud who chipped in with 38 and 30 from Miguel Nandu, the cousin of Marcus and Matthew.
Vimal Patel took two wickets for 29 runs from six overs.
When Brampton XI batted, Hiren Raval led the way with 49 not out, while Prashant Vaghela scored 36 and Jinesh Patel with 30. Marcus, the leg-spinner, proved his all-round capability by snatching two for 25 from 10 tidy overs.
The competition is slated to continue on Saturday.
