Kaieteur News – On another day blessed with glorious sunshine, the Tri-State U-17 side from the USA suffered their first defeat in three matches on their two-week tour to Guyana, when they were beaten by 135 runs by a Georgetown U-17 team, yesterday at Everest ground.
GCA X1 made 237-7 in 45 overs as Shaquan Walters made 69 from 89 balls with seven fours, Jaden Campbell scored 52 from 58 with seven fours while Riyad Latif contributed 52 from 56 balls with five fours and a six.
Anirudh Bolisetty (2-37), Abhiram Yeruva (2-57) and Shishir Yelameli (2-32) were the pick of the bowlers for the State Youth Development Team, who replied with 102 all out from 26.5 overs, despite a resistant 30 from Ruhan Swar.
Swar followed his magnificent century at the same venue on Monday by reaching the ropes twice and clearing it on two occasions, but of the other batters, only Siddarth Kappa (16) and Yeruv (11) reached double figures as extras contributed 20.
Leg-spinner Latif (2-31), left-arm spinner Brandon Henry (2-23) and Myhiem Khan (2-4) were the architects of the destruction for the lads from the City.
The next match for the tourists is scheduled for Thursday when they play their third game against the GCA X1 at the same venue. (Sean Devers)
