Windward Islands won the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Under-17 tournament after finishing the tournament on 17.8 points followed by Barbados on 14.8, Jamaica 14.2, Trinidad and Tobago 12, Guyana 11.6 and Leeward Islands on 8.8.
Leeward Islands, Windward Islands and Barbados recorded victories when the latest round of matches in the CWI Regional U17 tournament concluded recently in Trinidad and Tobago.
At Gilbert Park, Leeward Islands beat Guyana by 69 runs. Batting first, Leeward Islands made 158-9 from their allotted 20 overs. Maichael Palmer struck 88 from 66 balls with three fours and eight sixes and Brent Joseph 16. Bruce Vincent claimed 3-41 and Mavendra Dindyal 2-28.
Guyana replied with 89-9. Alvin Mohabir made 24 and Jadon Campbell 22. Nicah Mc Kenzie captured 3-11, Wilden Cornwall 3-15 and Nathan Edward 2-26.
At National Cricket Centre, Windward Islands defeated Trinidad and Tobago by 28 runs. Windward Island made 191-4from 20 overs. Stephan Pascal scored 78 from 48 balls with six fours and four sixes while Tarrique Edward stroked 72 off 37 balls from two fours and seven sixes. Rikki Ragoonanan took 2-31.
Trinidad and Tobago responded with 163-8. Kyle Ramdoo made 56 from 45 balls including four fours and one six while Andrew Rambaran made 56 off 32 balls with six fours and three sixes. Pascal took 2-9 and Solomon Bascombe 2-33.
At Inshan Ali Park, Barbados overcame Jamaica by 13 runs. Barbados took first strike and managed 127-9 off 20 overs. Nathan Sealy made 45 from 29 balls with two fours and three sixes as Deshawn James picked up 2-19, Reon Edwards 2-21 and Nashanie Meade 2-29.
Jamaica were bowled out for 114 in 19.4 overs. Brian James scored 39 and Adrian Weir 35. Jatario Prescod snared 3-15, Jaden Lorde 2-24 and Rashad Worrell 2-27.
