Dear Editor,
It is instructive how the Government of ‘Transparency’ and ‘Unity’ reacted to last week’s protests on the East Coast – of much neglected Region Four.
Whatever their mission, the eight talkative decision-makers (and their instructors) in their myopia, have totally overlooked how the content and quality of social and economic relationships in Guyana are being assessed by their Caricom neighbours, and the possible hesitancy some of the latter may have about investing in local ‘partnerships’.
Meanwhile, some diplomatic intelligence will note the palpable difference between this Administration’s ‘talk’ and its ‘walk’ – to Buxton – with promises and ‘basketball’ gifts, for youths who have grown up in ‘courts’ of substantive discrimination, rather than opportunities for education – Government’s ‘granted Human Development’.
All in all a triumphal humiliation.
