Essequibo defeated the GCB Rising Stars by11 runs (DLS Method) when the Guyana Cricket Board Inter County U17 50-over competition continued on Monday night at LBI.
GCB Rising Stars batted first and were put on the back foot early when pacer Bruce Vincent bowled opener Anthony Khan (00) and Rampersaud Ramnauth (05) was run out as they were reduced to 17-2. They never recovered as the Essequibians maintained a steady line and they were bowled out for 86 in 30.2 overs. Kevin Kisten made 25 off 32 balls while Ijtihad Kadir scored 14 and Nityanand Mathura 12. Gulcharran Chulai led the bowling as he picked up 3-6 from 6.2 overs to maintain his consistency with the ball, while Shaaziff Mohamed had 2-17 and Thaddeus Lovell 2-26.
Essequibo were 61 for 5 in 24 overs, ahead by 11 runs when play was halted due to rain.
Thaddeus Lovell made 14, while Bruce Vincent and Gladewin Henry were not out on six and three respectively. Jayden Dowlin had 2-13.
