Dear Editor,
The damning news item of a member of the esteemed legal profession allegedly behaving and displaying conduct of a very hostile and aggressive nature laced with demeaning and insulting language (KN Mar 25) is anti-One Guyana and must be strongly condemned. This has to be seen as an act of violence and violation against women.
Regardless of how provoked or the circumstances which led to the outbursts there is just no place in today’s Guyana for the treatment, as was alleged, to be meted out to the female rank.
An apology does not cut it and the ERC should see this matter of grave concern to one of its core mandates of fostering and promoting racial harmony. The young legal professional should step aside from public life pending the outcome of an investigation.
The female rank it is hoped would be able to overcome this transgression and ordeal and move on with time.
Regards,
Shamshun Mohamed
