Kaieteur News – Burnham Court, the ‘Mecca’ of basketball locally, was officially adopted by Hennessy on Thursday evening during a red carpet event. The Middle and Carmichael Streets affair was well attended and had esteemed guests including Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr. who delivered the keynote address, Mayor of Georgetown; His Worship Ubraj Narine, and Santiago Frusto; the Market Manager for South America at Moet Hennessy.
The event ushered in a transformational chapter for the iconic venue and Hennessy’s long term adoption of the 65-year old Burnham Court entailed the installation of new lights, refurbishing of the officials’ tables, players areas and the patron stand. Painting and design of a mural on court and
the establishment of a mobile VIP.At the event where Hennessy, the world’s most prestigious cognac was sipped responsibly, there was also a 3×3 mini basketball tournament to commemorate the occasion.

The winning team, Plaisance Guardians, pocketed $100,000, medals and bragging rights.
Ansa McAl and Hennessy, the spirit of the NBA, have announced that they look forward to having more partnerships with sports in Guyana.
