Kaieteur News – The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) is forging ahead with plans to select the best possible under15 team for the upcoming GCB inter county tournament. The BCB started the Tenelec Under15 countywide tournament with sixteen teams and then invited a total of fifty six youths to a special training session with the junior selection committee under the chairmanship of Balram Samaroo at the Rose Hall Canje Ground.
The next step would be the hosting of three fifty overs trial matches across the county. The matches would be held on Saturday 22nd of January, Wednesday 26th and Saturday 29th.
The selectors have named three teams along with captains for the trials which would be played on a competitive basis. The teams would bear the names of three cricketing legends of the county and BCB President Hilbert Foster has stated that this trend would continue for the rest of the year as the board pays tributes to heroes of the past. The three teams would be John Trim XI -led by Navin Budhan, Rohan Kanhai XI led by Ricardo Ramdehol and Ivan Madray XI captained by Sohail Mohamed.
