Kaieteur News – Born and raised in North Rupununi, Region Nine, it was always Sunny Kissoon’s dream to one day own his own company. Now that he is much older, he is not only fulfilling
that dream but he is doing something that he feels most passionate about, architecture. This 26-year-old entrepreneur is the proud owner of ‘Skylines Architecture’, a business he started in August last year. During a recent interview with Kaieteur News, Kissoon shared, “My inspiration came from the mere fact that I have always wanted to own a company.”
After pursing the Architecture programme at the University of Guyana and at Tianjin University in China he noted that it was something he would like to take further and to do for the rest of his life. “I realised that my work is extremely good and it brought me great satisfaction to see my work come to life; this realisation inspired me to start my own company and to continue designing dream buildings,” he said. His business has been off to a good start owing to the unwavering support from his family and friends. According to Kissoon he is very grateful for the clients he has been getting. “The support that I receive is what keeps me and my company driven,” he added. With business prospering, he is currently eying taking his company to higher heights. The young man’s goal is to take ‘Skylines Architecture” to an international level and to one-day sees it ranked the number one architectural business in the world, providing unique services and modernising designs. Kissoon, who kicked started this business venture amid the global pandemic, revealed that one notable challenge he faced was putting together the right team to do the job. “Not often we find persons who are dedicated to their job and so finding a solid team was a challenge, nevertheless I now have a solid team to execute the works,” he confessed. Another thing he shared was that personally, he had no sort of experience being in the business field and so getting together the right tools for his business for it to function professionally was a bit of a hurdle that he has now resolved. Having found ways to overcome his challenges, our featured entrepreneur had this to say, “I would encourage young entrepreneurs like myself to stay focused and motivated,
to be consistent with their business or whatever they’re pursuing.” To this end, Kissoon is of the firm belief that young business owners play a pivotal role in society today by contributing new and innovative ideas. “Every day the world is evolving and every day we find businesses are being established by young people to make our everyday lives easier,” he pointed out. This is why, he noted, that the relevant authorities could do a lot for young people in business. Moreover, he advocates for a reduction in taxes as well as for grants to be made available for emerging young entrepreneurs.
