Kaieteur News – The Upper Demerara Football Association’s (UDFA) long awaited Annual General Meeting and Elections is set today from 2.00pm at the Egbert Benjamin Centre in Linden.
Incumbent president Terrence Mitchell, who has migrated, is not seeking re-election.
Acting President Claude Williams announced that he will not be seeking re-election either.
But, Williams will continue to be president of the only Club from which is among the Elite teams affiliated to the governing Guyana Football Federation.
Last Sunday’s AGM which was set for the Watooka Club, at the last minute was postponed without any given reason.
Sources close to the UDFA say Deputy Mayor of Linden Mr. Wainwright Bethune and vice president of Milerock FC Mr. Victor Wright are the front runners to be the new President of the UDFA.
However, it was indicated that of the eleven clubs affiliated, three of them, Aroiama, Silver Shattas and Coomacka did not meet the requirements to attend.
Previously, the eleven affiliated clubs were advised to hold their AGM and Elections on or before October 20 to be eligible to attend the UDFA AGM and Elections.
