Kaieteur News – The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) at Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown is expected to come alive today, Sunday, when female Volleyball players around the country match skill as they vie for supremacy in the one-day team event.
Six teams are expected to take to the indoor court of the venue in the tournament organized by the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF). First serve is expected at 09:00h.
The six teams set to compete are Castrol Strikers, Eagles Volleyball Club, Berbice Females, Laluni Volleyball Club, Fluffy Girls of Linden and Pakuri Warriors.
According to the GVF, apart from the teams vying for supremacy the competition will also be used to select a senior national squad to begin training for future events. The competition will also be used as stepping stone for the formation of an academy, which will be organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
A number of officials are expected to be on hand to witness the day’s action including GVF President Levi Nedd. A competitive day of volleyball action is anticipated. (Samuel Whyte)
