Dear Editor
Kaieteur News – The proposed raft of measures and penalties for elections malfeasance was certainly crafted to avenge and avoid a repeat of 2020.
But what of the composition of the Commission? The current make-up which facilitates grid-lock very often needs to be reconstituted and restructured to better serve the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).
Further, what about penalties and measures against the chairman and or commissioners who might try to thwart and interfere with the elections and its outcome, which might have been the case with the unilateral appointment, which was ruled illegal and overturned by CCJ? Or the current chairperson who failed to take decisive action in ensuring the court ruling was followed by the Region Four RO in tabulation of the Region when he tried to introduce and work his magic?
Sincerely
Shamshun Mohamed
