Dear Editor,
In the past week, I have heard of two experiences of people going to renew their passport at the Passport Office. I find this to be most ridiculous. Surely, we can do much better with the technologies and tools available to us in these present times. My nephew was there a morning before 6AM and was turned away to come back another day because they had reached the daily quota. Mind you, he is below 18 and his father took time off to take him there.
In another situation, a close friend of mine took her children at 4:30AM and was granted number 27. It is my understanding that people are there as early as 3AM waiting to get in for a renewal or new passport application. I am not discrediting the efforts of the Passport Office staff, but indeed the policy makers and management of this institution got to do better than this.
Yours truly,
T. Ram
