Kaieteur News – Affiance and Zorg registered victories when the Team Daniels 7-a-side Tapeball competition continued on Sunday last at Zorg, Essequibo Coast.
Affiance, led by former national under 19 player Latchman Rohit, secured their place in the semi finals following their victory over Jaguars. Rohit struck an unbeaten 44 with sixes as Affiance successfully chased 53 to win the contest with two overs to spare. Earlier, Chaitram Seurattan made 17 for Jaguars while off spinner Amit Singh had 2-7.
Zorg beat Golden Fleece by 22 runs in their encounter. Batting first, Zorg managed 45-5. Adrian Arthur made 12 not out as Shivnarine Narine took 2-10. Golden Fleece made 23 in reply. Vijay Mohan scored 15 while Marlon McFarlen claimed 2-11.
Zorg also defeated Hustlers in another fixutre. Huslters were bowled out for four with pacer Marlon McFarlen picking up 3-1 and Sachin Dadoolall 1-2. J. Ramlachan struck the third ball of Zorg’s innings for six to seal the win.
In another fixture, the all age Females batted first and posted 94-3 off their allotted seven overs. Annalisa D’Augiar scored 35 not out while Nikesha Narine scored 32 not out. Bowling for the U15 Males, Angel Pearson claimed 2-15. U15 Males responded with 96-2. Ravin Fredericks struck 51 not out and Avinash Seurattan made 36.
The competition will conclude tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Zorg councilor on the Annandale- Riverstown N.D.C, Mellissa Mohammed commended Team Daniels for their efforts in helping to develop sports in the area.
