Young Achievers vs Eagles…
Kaieteur News – The Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) will host its best-of-three League finals of their A Division league from tonight with game one spiking off at 19:30hrs at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) on Homestretch Avenue between table toppers Young Achievers Volleyball Club and Eagles Volleyball Club.
Achievers finished top of the League with 14 points, three more than second placed Eagles; The other team in the DVA A Division league; Castrol Strikers, finished in the cellar position on five points.
The second game of the finals is scheduled for this Friday, September 17, and if needed, game three will be hosted on September 21, all at Castroll, Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown.
Achievers will bank on national players Juan Velasquez, Creston Rodney and Klondyke Rodney amongst others to carry their championship aspirations, while Eagles will look to national players Quacy Matheson, Trevon McRae, Kristoff Shepperd and Dester Hoppie amongst others to help them lift the title.
While Achievers have the leading scorer in the competition, the list is dominated by Eagles with four of their players in the top five.
Velasquez leads the chart with 49 points, followed by the Eagles quartet McRae (44), Matheson (44), Shepperd (33) and Adriel Moore (33).
Completing the top 10 scorers are Vance Harding of Castrol Strikers and Achievers pair Geno Carroll and Corwyn Richards, all on 27 points each; Klondyke Rodney with 25 and Kirby Richards of Castrol Strikers on 21.
The games will be streamed live on the Guyana Volleyball Federation’s Facebook Page from 19:00hrs each night.
