Dear Editor,
I have great faith and confidence in the fourth estate. As such, I read a letter in sections of the media alleging that the Hon. Minister of Home Affairs requested of certain senior officers in one of our security branches that they should seek ethnic balance.
Those of us who are aware of Guyana’s history, particularly as we celebrate the anniversary of African Emancipation from slavery would appreciate the deep implications of this statement. This request for an explanation from the minister/government is necessary so that we can understand the thinking of our government. Good journalism would allow you to seek an explanation from the minister/government. I need not state the importance to obtain an explanation from the minister or government in a society that has seemed polarised for many generations.
The minister owes every Guyanese irrespective of race, colour or creed an explanation or justification.
Yours truly,
Eric Moseley
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
