Kaieteur News – Yesterday the Ministry of Health announced that four more persons, who tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, have died. As a result of this, Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has moved to 466. Out of those deaths, 68 occurred this month, which has two more days left.
According to the Ministry, the latest fatalities are those of two women – a 65-year-old and a 64-year-old – and a 73-year-old man, all from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) and a 49-year-old man from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara).
All four persons died over a four-day period (June 24 to June 27) while receiving treatment at medical facilities. Further, the Health Ministry, via its daily COVID-19 dashboard, recorded 14 new cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 19,891. Out of the confirmed cases, 10,184 persons are women, while 9,707 are men.
The dashboard also revealed that 15 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 87 are in institutional isolation, 1,539 are in home isolation and three are institutionally quarantined. Additionally, 103 recoveries were recorded yesterday bringing the total number of recoveries to 17,784.
