– Male partner left bike and run
Kaieteur News – A woman who had planned to go out over the weekend was tragically killed in an accident moments after she left a hair salon on Saturday night. She has been identified as 22-year-old Kizzre Cave, of Cane Street, Meadow Bank, Georgetown.
The accident, which claimed Cave’s life took place, around 21:15hrs on the Brickdam Road at the junction of Brummel Place, Georgetown. Kaieteur News learnt that while she was styling her hair, she expressed enthusiasm to go on an outing and was preparing her hair for that occasion. Employees at the salon recalled that as she left, she was “very excited”.
“Oh, she was just so excited to go out, just so excited,” one of them said.
She reportedly left on a motorcycle that was ridden by her male partner; not long after leaving the salon, the motorcycle slammed into a car at the intersection of Brickdam and Brummel Place.
According to investigators, the non-working traffic lights at the intersection may have played a major role in causing the accident. Police reported that the motorcycle was heading north along Brummel Place while the car was traveling east along Brickdam.
Both of them reportedly approached the intersection at the same time but failed to stop. As a result, the car crashed into the motorcycle and both Cave and the rider fell onto the road.
Police reported that the rider got up and ran away from the scene, leaving the severely injured Cave lying on the roadway not too far from the mangled motorcycle.
An ambulance was summoned to the scene along with the police and Cave was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where she was admitted. Doctors discovered that she suffered broken legs, concussion to the head and a fractured left arm. Cave never recovered and eventually succumbed to the injuries around 05:30hrs yesterday.
