Kaieteur News – A woman is now in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being stabbed by her partner and the knife, lodged in her stomach.
According to a police report, the 26-year-old victim of Parfaite Harmony, West Bank Demerara and the suspect are in a visiting relationship. Yesterday at 12:30hrs, the suspect visited the victim and an argument eventually erupted between the two.
During the said argument, the suspect became violent and dealt the victim several blows to her body before acquiring a knife and stabbing her, resulting in the knife being stuck in her abdomen. The suspect then got into his vehicle and fled the scene.
Neighbours were subsequently alerted and found the victim in an unconscious state upon coming to her aid. The victim was picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where she was seen and examined, before being transferred to the Georgetown Hospital in a critical condition.
Acting on information given, the police visited the suspect’s last known location which was the Canal Number One conservancy area, where his motorcar was found abandoned. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
