Kaieteur News – A miner of Guana Sand Backdam, Cuyuni River, was robbed by his three employees on Saturday morning. According to a police report, the 50-year-old Brazilian national employed three Venezuelan males, three days prior to the incident. At 09:00hrs on Saturday, the three suspects approached the man, one of whom was armed with a cutlass and ordered him to drain his dredge.
While the man was being carried to do as was commanded by the suspects, he managed to escape and ran into nearby bushes. The victim subsequently returned to the site where he observed that the mat in his sluice was washed of malgum gold of unknown value. The man then raised an alarm before making a report to the Bartica Police Station. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
