Kaieteur News – The domestic-based contingent of Guyana’s Senior Men’s National Team along with some of their overseas based counterparts arrived in the USA last evening ahead of final preparations for their Concacaf Gold Cup Preliminary round qualification match against Guatemala, next month.
The Golden Jaguars will train and compete in friendly matches in Florida before facing the Central American nation at 21:30hrs local time on Saturday, July 3 at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
GFF President Wayne Forde: “We wish the squad and staff all the best in their quest to qualify for the final rounds of the Concacaf Gold Cup for the second consecutive tournament. We expect Guatemala to prove challenging opponents, but we know our players will leave everything on the pitch and that the entire nation will be roaring with the Golden Jaguars,” he said.
The winner of the first round qualification fixture will play either Guadeloupe or the Bahamas on July 6 for a place in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup final competition. The 2021 Gold Cup takesplace between July 10 and August 1 at various venues across the United States.
