DEAR EDITOR,
I refer to a letter titled “We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God” written by Hamilton Green published on 6-15-2021 in the Kaieteur News. Guyana will never be at heart’s ease until people like Mr. Green gets off the political scene. Mr. Green can write about the Tulsa race massacre because it was a massive operation that involved Black people being killed in America. His heart is in agony where Black people are concerned, but he shows no remorse when so many Indian lives are lost and property destroyed, despite having an Indian wife. He purposefully and willfully fails to admit that the Wismar pogrom was a large scale, deliberately planned and organised attack on defenseless Indians, just like Tulsa.
What Mr. Green does in his reply to Ms. Rhyaan Shah is to easily cull together a number of unconnected incidents to weigh them off the Wismar massacre. Editor, these individual incidents by themselves cannot be easily dismissed for their savagery. But neither can Wismar’s massive attacks be so easily ignored, or be dismissed by the likes of Mr. Green. There had to have been PNC complicity in the Wismar massacre as that party held its party congress that same year in 1964 in Mackenzie now Linden in an act of validation. As if to rub salt in the wound Mr. Forbes Burnham chose May 26…the exact date of the Wismar massacre…to declare Guyana’s independence.
The PPP government never paid compensation to those who lost lives and property; neither did they annually commemorate the Wismar incident because of that party’s ideology. Mr. Green…his other political name is Mohamed Bilal just for show and to catch votes…can quote scripture nowadays. Towards what purpose? Likewise, the devil can quote scripture for his ends. But until Mr. Green has become a sincere believer, he will not enter paradise.
Sincerely,
Sultan Mohamed
