DEAR EDITOR,
Kaieteur News – With reference to an article published Thursday in the paper as it relates to the cops who pulled over the mask-less driver and ordered him to the station, I want to fully support the Guyana Police Force in this endeavour. It is time, and with the deadly disease, the Police need to ramp up their efforts. Too many people are dying and being hospitalised, why is it hard to wear a mask in public? The police should start intercepting buses and check for masks and issue of overcrowding in minibuses. The cops should make spot checks in supermarkets, markets and other areas. Other CARICOM countries are very serious with the issue of mask wearing and social distancing but Guyanese seem to want to learn the hard way. Any activity by the government and the Joint Service to curb the spread of this deadly disease, I am in full support.
