Kaieteur News – Jacobs Jewellrey & Pawn Shop located 16 Pike Street and owned by former West Indies U-19 and Guyana player Steven Jacobs, yesterday congratulated their 21-year-old brand Ambassador Kevin Sinclair for being selected in the West Indies T20 and ODI teams to face the touring Sri Lankans in Antigua next month.
The 32-year-old Jacobs, who took 38 wickets and hit one fifty from 38 List ‘A’ cricket matches, said he decided to make Sinclair, who resides in Agony’s Avenue in New Amsterdam, Berbice, a brand ambassador because being a sportsman himself he saw the need for Corporate Guyana to lend support to sportspersons.
“I saw the need to help sportsmen and sportsmen progress in their careers. I also think that mentorship is needed for young athletes so they remain on the right path so I decided to adopt him in that capacity,” added Jacobs.
A batting all-rounder at the start of what promised to wonderful career, Jacobs struggled to post good big scores at the Regional level, and became more successful with off-spin bowling, especially in 50 and 20 overs cricket.
“Sinclair fits into the same role that I played for Guyana,” Jacobs said of the youngster who has taken 18 wickets from 16 List ‘A’ games but is yet to score a fifty. (Sean Devers)
