Scotsburg United and No73 Young Warriors win again
Kaieteur News – When play continued in the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA), Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and Ahamad Construction U19 40 overs cricket competition on Sunday there were wins again for Scottsburg United and No73 Young Warriors.
The four-team competition which is being organised by the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) and for teams in the Upper Corentyne area saw two matches being played.
After scoring easy wins on Saturday, Scottsburg United and No73 Young Warriors once again crushed their opponents in their respective games.
In one game No73 Young Warriors led by a fine all round performance by Raul Jabar trashed No73 Radha Krishna Mandir by 103 runs.
Batting first Young Warriors reached 203-5 in their 40 overs with Raul Jabar striking an unbeaten 50. He got good support from Trevon Sukho 49, Niradj Singh 25 and Salim Khan 18.
Bowing for Rahdha Krishna, Abass Khan and Travindra Doobay took 2 wickets each. They in reply were rolled over for 100 in 18.1 overs with Indarlall Singh 44.
Jabar returned with an unplayable spell to grab 4-8, Salim Khan also had a good game with 4-33.
In the second game Scottsburg United made light work of No69 Youth Club by whipping them by 9 wickets. Taking first strike, No69 YC was bundled out for 52.
Doing the damage with the ball for Scottsburg United were Seeraj Chatterpaul 5-8 and Orlando Campbell 3-9 being unplayable.
Scottsburg in reply raced to 57-1 with Akbar Nohar hammering 44 not out.
The competition will continue on Saturday 27th with two more matches with the two unbeaten teams Scottsburg United and No73 Young Warriors colliding at the No72 Cut and Load Ground.
The second game will see No69 Youth Club and No73 Radha Krishna looking for their first win when they clash at the No69 Red Rose Ground.
The final is set for Sunday 28th February at a venue to be decided.
Trophies and other incentives will be awarded to the winner and runner up team and outstanding individual players.
Former National wicketkeeper batsman Sydney Jackman, Chairman of the UCCA competitions committee, is the coordinator.
The UCCA is advising that the competition is being played using strict Covid 19 regulations. (Samuel Whyte)
