DEAR EDITOR,
Kaieteur News – We do have to give a thumbs-up to the Minister of Public Works, J. Edghill, for cleaning house, by terminating contracts of ill suited contractors who are unable to finish projects in spite of the millions advanced to them. It is a good start. The Minister is on the right track in also stating a few weeks ago to summarize; that individuals will be fired who sign off on contractors getting payments, when work has not been done. So let’s see. Hopefully with this approach, Guyana should expect to see less uncompleted projects. The latest eye sore of the terminated contract of Leguan Ferry Stelling is just another recent case in point, of one of many financially mismanaged contracts under the “leadership” of the Ex Minister of Public Infrastructure. This is such a stain. Shame on all these ex leaders, regardless of Ministry or high end government organization who have accomplished so little for Guyana, obviously hopeless in their prior government positions and yet have no problem making a fuss when they are not included in consultations. Why should such individuals or their enablers be included in anything when they are proving to have a solid track record of obvious mismanagement. What is their excuse? These are enemies of the people; plain and simple. Such non-performance shouldn’t be acceptable any more.
This is one of so many projects run amok under the previous administration, an administration that had no strategic game plans for a positive legacy.
At least the Minister of Public Works is leaving an impression that he means business, in this aspect.
