Dear Editor,
Guyana is prone to flooding which is likely to increase if/when sea level rises due to global warming. Therefore, we need to come up with a Master Plan for development in Guyana. Do we, (a) gradually move our capital to higher ground, (b) build sea and river defenses as well as drainage system to get the water off the land as quickly as possible, or, (c) continue with the ad hoc development that has been taking place?
Funding needs to be provided to the University of Guyana so that researchers can study the effects of climate change and associated rise in sea level on Guyana over the next 100 years.
Yours Faithfully
Sean Ori
