Kaieteur News – Eric Thomas struck his second century as Regal Legends booked their place in the final of the over 50 category when the Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL) Inc Prime Minister’s T20 Cup 4 continued yesterday.
Thomas slammed seven fours and 11 sixes in a fine 111 as Regal Legends posted 218-4, batting first in their semi final encounter against New York President’s XI at the Everest Cricket Club. Jagdesh Bhoj supported with 39 not out and Eon Abel scored 29. Mikey Ifill took 2-34. NY President’s XI were bowled out for 166 in 19.1 overs in reply. Mohamed Rafeek made 54 while Dennis Mangru scored 42. Fazleem Mohamed claimed 3-33, David Harper 2-28 and Laurie Singh 2-41.
In the second semi final, Savage Legends defeated Parika Defenders by 39 runs. Savage Legends took first strike and managed 168-7. Randolph Perreira top scored with 56, while Nadir Baksh made 29 and Seemangal Yadram 27. Carl Scarce took 2-31. Parika Defenders responded with 129-8. Asif Ahmad made 46 while Oswald Chandler and Ramesh Rambharose contributed 24 each. Vishnauth Gobin captured 2-25.
In the Open semi finals at Queen’s College, Speedboat overcame Ariel in a high scoring affair. Speedboat batted first and posted 253-6. Greg Singh stroked 84 with four fours and eight sixes while Safraz Esau made 56, Lennox Marks 48 and Safraz Karim 25 not out. Hemnauth Deochand claimed 2-33 and Deon Wallace 2-50. Ariel replied with 234-9. Quentin Sampson continued his fine form with an attacking 85 which included three fours and 11 sixes, while Brain Mangar made 74 and Shaz Grosvenor 42. Kishore Smith picked up 2-5, Peter Alleyne 2-25 and Greg Singh 2-59.Regal All stars beat Spartans by six wickets. Batting first, Spartans scored 184-9. Keon Sinclair and Devendra Ramotar made 30 each, while David Williams got 28 and Eon Hooper 26. Roy Persaud grabbed 4-33 and Delroy Perreira 3-38.
Regal All stars responded with 186-4 in 18.2 overs. Skipper Chien Gittens cracked six fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 61 while Richard Latif made 27 and Rickey Sergeant 23.
In the over 45 division, Fisherman Masters beat HS Masters by eight wickets. HS Masters took first strike and were sent packing for 73 in 14.5 overs. Vivian Bissoon made 27 and Ganpat Gossai 14. Stanley Mohabir picked up 3-2, Pooran Singh 3-8 and Zameer Hassan 2-23. Fisherman Masters replied with 79-2 in 10 overs. Keith Fraser struck 51.
At Lusignan, Wellman Masters defeated Success Masters by nine wickets. Success Masters took first turn in the middle and made 85-8. Hackim Majeed scored 17, Mustapha Azimullah got 14 and Narine Roopdeo 13 not out.
Imtiaz Mohamed captured 2-14, Sheldon Perch 2-15, Greg De Franca 2-16 and Lester Thom 2-19. Wellman Masters replied with 87-1 in 9.4 overs. De Franca stroked 51 and Azeemul Haniff made 26 not out.Earlier, Floodlights Legends beat New York President’s XI by one run in their final preliminary round game. Floodlights Legends batted first and scored 154-7 from their reduced 18 overs. Ricky Deonarain struck 58 not out, while Anil Beharry made 25, Sahadeo Boodhoo 23 and Surendra Nauth 19 off four balls. Dhanraj Mohabeer, Gopaul Deen and Balram Lakeram claimed two wickets each. NY President’s XI responded with 153-3. Mohamed Rafeek made 47 and Tony Fernandes 46. Rahaman Khan captured 2-29.
The competition concludes today with Regal Legends playing Savage Legends at 09:30hrs on pitch two in the over 50 final (umpires Stephon Josiah and Ranole Bourne), Wellman Masters facing Fisherman Masters in the over 45 final at 09:30hrs on pitch one (Shameer Samad and Mark Ernest) and Regal All stars taking one arch rivals Speedboat in the open final at 13:30hrs (Flemroy Lambert and Mark Scott).
