DEAR EDITOR,
With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing almost daily (especially in Region 4), the spread of this virus should be taken seriously by all Guyanese.
Those who continue to ignore social distancing and/or wearing a mask is putting not only themselves at risk but all whom they come in contact with in getting the virus. Such persons when caught should be approached by a police officer and given a ticket to pay a fine of two thousand ($2,000) Guyana dollars for not wearing a mask and ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for ignoring social distancing.
Failure to pay the fine, instead of wasting the court’s time, he or she should be apprehended and immediately placed in jailed for a period of not less than two weeks that every Guyanese realize the seriousness of spreading the virus.
Yours truly,
Gloria Holder
