DEAR EDITOR,
On Sunday evening, the 27th of September to evening on Monday the 28th of September, the world will celebrate Yom Kippur. A day of atonement and an occasion of self-denial where fasting and rest is observed. I was first introduced to this holiday as a young boy in Guyana when Yom Kippur was kept as a National Holiday. Over the years, this holiday has been removed from our national calendar. Those of us who share the heritage of Her Excellency Mrs. Janet Jagan look forward to the eventual reinstatement of Yom Kippur to our Nation’s annual observance as a national holiday. In the interim, Happy Holidays to All.
Kind regards,
Mr. Jamil Changlee
