Softball Cricket Canada emerged victorious on Sunday in the specially-arranged Canadian Softball Cricket Association (CSCA) ten-over competition at Greenbriar ground, Brampton, Toronto.
Softball Cricket Canada defeated Lequan Boyz by seven wickets. Leguan Boyz batted first and only made an insufficient 41-7 from the 10-overs.
Softball Cricket Canada achieved the target in 7.2 overs but lost three wickets in the process.
Avinash Sookdeo captured two wickets for nine runs from his allotted two overs while there was one each for Aftab
Shamsudeen and former Guyana youth player Shaun Deonandan, delivering for the champion side.
Sookdeo was named player-of-the-match for his outstanding bowling performance.
After the regular season was cancelled earlier this year owing to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the association decided to run off the 11-team tournament.
Canada-based Guyanese Avish Rukhram was awarded for scoring the most runs in the tournament.
The left-hander made 156, while Sheik Parsram collected the best-bowling prize having snapped up seven victims. Rukhram also took home the trophy for the being the player-of-the-tournament.
Meanwhile, president of the CSCA Rishi Mohan thanked all the teams for their participation and also expressed similar sentiment to the sponsors.
