A security guard who is employed by a mini-mart on the Essequibo Coast, was reportedly slashed on his right hand during an armed robbery last Friday night.
The security guard has been identified as Dhaneshwar Budhoo, 38, from Henrietta.
Based on reports, Budhoo was attacked sometime around 19:45hrs. at Shawn’s Mini Mart, where he is usually stationed as a guard.
Information reaching Kaieteur News indicates that the security guard was on duty at the time, when a masked man on a red motorcycle approached him from the south.
The suspect reportedly hopped off of his motorcycle with knife in hand, and attacked the security guard, while demanding his phone.
During the attack, the victim was chopped on his right hand and was relieved of his cell phone, valued at $30,000.
After the scuffle, the attacker reportedly jumped on his motorcycle, and escaped with the victim’s cell phone.
Kaieteur News was also informed that during the attack, the suspect’s bag fell to the ground, along with a knife, helmet and a cell phone.
The items were taken into police possession when they arrived on the scene. The victim was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was treated and sent away.
Police indicated that no arrest has since been made.
