Dear Fellow Guyanese,
There should be no impediment, legal or otherwise, to prevent the recount of the ballots using the Statements of Poll which were widely distributed on Election Day, 2nd March 2020. The recount must be the primary demand of all Guyanese to demonstrate that we are all in favour to ensure the actual result is the one to be used to determine who is elected to make up the next Government. None in their personal lives will be contented with the outcome of any breaches in the Law that affects them directly. Why should it be different when the country faces that outcome?
After the legitimate winner forms the government, attention should immediately be on appropriate Election management and Constitutional upgrade. These should not be left to Political Parties, but must be spearheaded by the PEOPLE. The political parties failed, or are reluctant, to bring about the much needed changes.
Guyanese cannot continue to embrace what Mr. Kwayana termed,’ duh fu duh nah obeah’.
Disregard for the laws of the country is not the way to go.
Yours respectfully,
Faiyaz Alli
