To mark the nation’s 50th Republic Jubilee, President David Granger announced a list of prominent Guyanese who have been selected for the conferral of national awards.
The 2020 list of awardees includes the names of the recipients of the Cacique’s Crown of Honour (CCH) – the third highest national award. Among the awardees are International Guyanese singer Edmond “Eddy,” Montague Grant, Guyana Revenue Authority Commissioner, Geoffrey Statia, and Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh.
Others to receive CCH include the Right Reverend Charles Alexander Davidson, Dr. Abraham Agustus Clemwood Fung-A-Fat, Dr. Neville Bhagwandeen Gobin, Professor John Edward Greene, Dr. Cecil Edward Harricharran, Dr. Fawcett Anthony Jeffrey, Dr. Dalgleish Joseph, Ambassador Charlene Alexis Phoenix, Justice William Rajendra Ramlal, Claude Augustus Saul, Paul Esmond Slowe and Michael Orrin David Somersall.
Those listed to receive the Golden Arrow of Achievement are Varshanie Oudho Singh, wife of former President Bharrat Jagdeo; Mark Anthony Archer, Mavis Anita Benn, Marlan Kwesi Cole, Charles Mitroy Corbin, Reverend Roshanna Gillis, Catherina Penda Guyan, Sheran Roxanna Harper, Troy Henry, Loris Emille Heywood, Ranald Andrew Jacobs, Pastor Richard Avert James, Edward Jameson, Zaida Joaquin, Lincoln Brandon Lewis, Frederick McWilfred, Cita Indranie Pilgrim, Cheryl Sampson, Olive Beverly Sampson, Clinton Murphy Williams and Apostle Jason Clifton Yorrick
The Medal of Service honourees include Wesley Adrian Benjamin, Mark Anthony Benschop, Paulette Patricia Bollers, Terrence Glenberth Boston, Donna Bowen, Lucille Elaine Cadogan, Beverly Clenkien, Jenny Benn-Daly, Ann Pamela Forde, Gregory Douglas Fraser, Claire Ann Goring, Virgil Harding, Phyllis Erica Jackson, Glenyss Barbara James, Jainarine Maraj, Leon Randolph Mc Donald, Doreen Evelyn Blackman Ng-A-Qui, Kissoon Dyal Persaud, PremnauthPrashad, Urica Yernesi Primus, Deserdeen Roberts, Kaylan Persaud Sharma, Beverly Ann Somerset.
The Military Service Medal honours will be conferred on Colonel Raul Kenneth Jerrick, Lieutenant Colonel Denzil Walter Carmichael and the Disciplined Services Star will be given to Chief Fire Officer Marlon Anthony Gentle.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police Kevin Adonis, Assistant Commissioner of Police Edgar Mortimer Thomas and Deputy Chief Fire Officer Jacqueline Bonita Greene are all set to receive the Disciplined Service Medal.
On February 4, last, the second highest honour, the Order of Roraima was conferred on Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados.
In conferring the honorary national award on Mottley, President Granger noted that the Barbados Prime Minister exemplified dedication to duty and to service to the region.
At the announcement of the new awardees yesterday, President Granger and members of the Advisory Council for the Orders of Guyana, offer sincere congratulations to the 66 persons who have been honoured.
