The Annual Forbes Burnham Memorial Table Tennis Tournament which is being organised and coordinated by the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) and will be played under the rules regulations and authority of the International Table Tennis Federation.
The competition is scheduled to serve off tomorrow, Friday February 21st and continue on Saturday February 22nd, while Monday February 24th is set as a reserve day. The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) at Home Stretch Avenue, Georgetown is the venue.
The championships will see play in four categories: namely – Senior, B class Open, C Class Open and 21 years and under.
While there will be an opening ceremony on Saturday 22 at 13:00hrs the competition will get cracking tomorrow with play in the “C” Class Open Singles and the 21 Years and under Open Singles categories. Matches will be played between the hours of 4 pm and 7 pm.
Matches in those categories will continue on Saturday from 9am to 11am.
The B class players will take to the table at 11 am on Saturday and are expected to continue until 3pm.
Players participating in the Senior Open category are expected to get into action at 3pm and continue their battle until 8pm.
The presentation ceremony is expected to take place immediately after the completion of the competition. (Samuel Whyte)
