Left arm spinner Javed Rasheed grabbed eight wickets, while Arvind Gainda bagged six as Everest Cricket Club and Bel Air Rubis took first innings
points in their respective matches when the Georgetown Cricket/ Association Noble House Sea Foods second division two day tournament continued yesterday.
At Everest CC, the home team batted first and made 159 all out. Urshadeva Balgobin struck 74, while Richie Looknauth made 30. Nigel Simpson and Andre Foster picked up three and two wickets respectively.
Diplomats were pegged back by accurate bowling from Rasheed and were bowled out for 78, in reply. Ronaldo Gibson made 16 as Rasheed finished with 8-20.
Batting a second time, Everest CC closed the day on 7-1 to lead by 88.
At Queen’s College, University of Guyana managed 139 all out, batting first. Y. Singh scored 36 and Melroy Stephenson made 28 as Gainda bagged 6-26. Bel Air Rubis responded with 209 all out. Keon Franklin stroked 73 while Krishna Deosarran made 42 and Mahendra Jeenarine 23. Spinner Damion Vantull captured 5-30. Trailing by 70, University of Guyana finished the day on 14-1, in their second turn at the crease.
