DEAR EDITOR,
As an oilfield engineer of many years working in oil and gas circles in 11 different countries, I was a little surprised by the article on how much oil and gas you can expect to see from a particular well.
The Gas /Oil Ratio or (GOR) is something that should not change appreciably much over time. When a well is on “on plateau” say after a stable period of operation, there should be little change in the GOR. Perhaps the reservoir engineer will check, say once a quarter to make sure that things are stable. For a large well with lots of potential as for instance in Starbroek there should be little change in GOR, especially for such large and powerful wells in their prime.
Each well will have a different GOR depending on other factors like where is the well located, up-dip or down dip.
Don’t worry, be happy. Give your wells time to adjust.
Good Luck,
Allan Stirling
