In sunny conditions yesterday Everest trashed Bel Air Rubis by 136 runs and University of Guyana (UG) defeated Diplomats by six runs as GCA’s NBS 40 overs Second Division Cricket Competition resumed in the City with two matches.
At Everest, the home team batted first and reached 300-4 in 40 overs with Richie Looknauth falling seven short of his century, while former Guyana leg-spinner Amir Khan made 72.
Usherdeva Balgobin was the third batsmen to get a half-century in the innings when he fell for 57, while Dwayne Adams supported with 37.
Mahindra Jeenarine took 2-31 from eight overs for Bel Air Rubis who were restricted to 164-7 despite 58 from Aravind Gainda and 34 from Krishna Deosarran.
Ariel Tilku had 3-24 from six overs in a losing effort.
At the Queen’s College (QC) ground, University of Guyana batted first and were bowled out for 135 in 19.1 overs with Yugindra Singh hitting 56. But only Akeem Netland (14) of the other batsmen offered any resistance.
Shane Browne took 5-22 and Rayson Gill had 4-55 for Diplomats, who were dismissed for 128 despite 38 from Nigel Simpson, 16 from Browne and 15 from Andre Forrester.
Rovindrall Persaud had 4-24 and Yekani Favourite took 4-28.
The next round is set for today: UG face-off with Third Class at QC. (Sean Devers)
