The Guyana Committee of Service (GCOS), whose mandate is to support sportspersons and the performing arts, continued their goodwill recently by assisting two young athletes in Rickie Williams and Jennifer Byass.
Both Byass and Williams received a pair of running ‘spikes’. Byass is currently competing in the ongoing 59th National Schools’ Cycling, Swimming and Track & Field Championships which will conclude this evening at the National Track & Field Center (NTFC), Leonora.
Williams benefitted from extra support last weekend as the GCOS ensured that he was able to participate in a 10k road race in Paramaribo by sponsoring his airfare to Suriname.
In a correspondence to this publication, the GCOS has noted that athletes can look forward to giveaways during today’s final events of the National Schools’ Championships that is currently being led by defending champions District 10 (Upper Demerara/Kwakwani).
