Recently it was published that children of the Anna Regina Multilateral dormitory are not given sufficient meals and this gives children a very hard time.
As chairman of the Anna Regina Multilateral School Board, I regularly visit the school and look at all areas of concern. Quite often I visit the dormitory and its kitchen and have found that they always have enough goods available, and there was sufficient food available to students. On Monday I visited and verified the availability of adequate food supply. In the dining hall extra tea was left, and the students had extra sugar and milk if anybody needed more.
I had discussions with the headmaster, senior teachers, dorm students and the person in charge of the dorm’s kitchen. All of them were in agreement that the report was vindictive and unjustified. Even many students expressed satisfaction at the treatment given to them.
The supplier of goods did not supply sugar and garlic on time. This did not cause any headache, as the school quickly picked this up and supplied the same items from its reserve fund, which is always in good shape. There was no shortage of those items and the negative report was all fabrication.
In the past, the dorm students have done very well. A few years back a dorm student from the Pomeroon River got sixteen subjects at CSEC Exams. This year the best hinterland student came from the dorms of Anna Regina Multilateral School.
In 2018 our best all-round student came from the dorms. To qualify you had to perform well in academic and co-curricular activities. This student performed well in athletics, even at the national level, and was extremely happy to receive all the outstanding prizes. Check the records and you will see how well dorm students fill jobs openings and how well they are doing at Teachers’ Training College and University.
The headmaster of the school has always had his hands filled and is doing an extremely good job. The young academic staffers perform to their capacity, in that they will take students with the very low Common Entrance marks and make these national and regional heroes. The Regional Executive Officer, the Education officers of Region #2 and also the PPO have always been extremely helpful in moving the school to maintain its position as a premier institution.
As an enlightening delivery of charge at the last graduation, Dr. Marcel Hutson, Chief Education Officer, mentioned that this institution must always maintain this position.
Sir, all the forces will be working in this direction.
