The police are now trying to contact two young men who are suspected to be involved in a robbery Thursday night, last, at Stabroek Market Square, Georgetown.
Persons on Facebook believe that they have put “two and two” together since the CCTV footage was released to the public of the ‘phone snatcher’ and that there is a striking resemblance to a Facebook post.
In the video (CCTV footage) seven young men could be seen walking in a group on Croal Street, Georgetown. As the group of men kept walking they noticed a guy standing in front of Ibet Supreme on his cell phone.
Two of the guys then turned in the direction of the victim who was looking down on his phone and not aware of what was going on around him. The guy who snatched the phone was clad in a navy blue polo shirt, a black jeans and a black hat while the other guy was wearing a white T-shirt and a blue three-quarter pants.
The guy in the blue walked and stood a few inches from the victim stared at the building and as he passed in front of the victim he reached out and snatched the man’s phone and made good his escape while his other friends kept walking.
The victim started to chase after the phone snatcher and a security guard from Ibet Supreme walked out and followed after the victim who was in pursuit of the guy who snatched his phone.
Moreover, one of the guys who was said to be in the company of the phone snatcher on Friday evening, last, posted a picture on Facebook with himself and another guy and captioned “Trouble dea dea.”
After the post was made by Shawn Inniss with himself and Daniel McArthur, who are suspected to be involved, it started to raise eyebrows. Facebook users started to notice the mere conscience of the clothes the guys have on in the picture is similar to the clothes the two guys who were seen in the company of the phone snatcher.
A few minutes after a number of persons on Facebook started to share the CCTV footage and a screenshot of the post that was made by Inniss, both Inniss and McArthur deactivated their Facebook account.
Citizens are calling on the police to look into the situation and put clarity to what is being spread and justice to take place.
