Defending champion Sparta Boss will open the defence of their title with a clash against newcomers Charlotte Street as play in the 7th Annual GT Beer / Keep Your Five Alive’ Indoor Competition commences this evening, at the National Gymnasium.
Regarded as the most successful team in the shorter format of the sport, Sparta Boss will appear in the final game of the night and will no doubt be aiming to get off to a good start in the round robin/ knockout format.
Eight other games are slated to be played with Upsetters and Bad-A-Yard set to kick off the night’s proceedings at 19:00hrs. In the other fixtures: North East La Penitence takes on Back Circle, before Leopold Street tackles Avacado Ballers in what is anticipated to be an explosive encounter.
West Side Showstoppers then look to halt the progress of LA Ballers, before BV and Stabroek Ballers square off the next engagement. Tiger bay then go up against Bagotstown, before Bent Street and Broad Street take to the court in what many believe will be a bruising encounter.
This will be followed by the clash between Alexander Village and Ol Skool Ballers to round out the night’s set of matches. Over $1million in prize monies and other incentives are up for grabs over the eight days of competition.
Twenty-four teams are participating in the tournament and they’ve been placed in six groups of four with the top two finishers in the round robin phase gaining automatic qualification to the round of sixteen along with the four best third place finishers. The other playing days are: October 19, 22, 24, 26, 27, 31 and November 9.
