The first Breeders’ Cup fundraiser held on Sunday last at the Bush Lot United Turf Club in West Coast Berbice, saw TNT of the Nand Persaud Racing Stables gallop away with the top spot in the feature horse race event while Steven Nobrega dominated the dirt bike competition by winning all three of the Pro races and David Nobrega won all the Novices events.
Stephen Nobrega received an extra $200,000 while David received a $100,000 bonus for having a perfect record. A total of four sprints made up the horse-race card. In the feature race, ‘TNT’ upset ‘Valentina’ out of the Jumbo Jet Racing Stables. Valentina was one of the turfties favourites but she had to settle for a two-way tie for second place with ‘Not This Time’ of Sophia.
Earlier in the day, ‘Massapequa’ won the first race for L Class and Lower horses while ‘Sunday Silence’ won the Two-Year-old Guyana-bred race and ‘Gold Again’ won the J1 and Lower clash. The complete horse races results are as follows:
Race 1: L Class and Lower – 1. Massapequa, 2. School Boy, 3. Lucky Lucky, 4. Back Track.
Race 2: Two-year-old Guyana bred – 1. Sunday Silence, 2. Face D Fire, 3. Perfect Drift, 4. City of Light.
Race 3: J1 and Lower – 1. Gold Again, 2. Ebony Prince, 3. Mary Ann, 4. Mark.
Race 4: E3 and Lower – 1. TNT, 2. Valentina, 3. Not This Time.
All proceeds from the event will go towards developmental works at the Bush Lot United Turf Club which includes the construction of a grand stand, stables for race days and fencing.
