A lone goal off the boot of Tyrice Dennis in the 59th minute of a bruising encounter was all that was needed for Buxton United to be crowned the 2019 champions of the GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power U-17 Intra Association League, East Demerara Football Association.
Playing at the Victoria Ground, and seeking to win which comes with bragging rights for the next year as well as an opportunity to be the member association representative team in the national playoffs, both Buxton United and Melanie looked businesslike in their approach.
The first half ended 0-0 as neither team gave up any real estate in the respective final thirds. As the time matured, it was Buxton that would have broken the deadlock through Dennis in the 59th minute and it turned out that that was the golden strike of the match.
It was not just the winning goal but it has allowed Buxton United to further showcase their talent when they come up against the champions from the other eight Regional Member Association of the Guyana Football Federation.
Taking the third place Golden Stars in the easiest of fashions, a walk over; their opponent, Rising Strikes failing to up for the clash.
