DEAR EDITOR,
President Donald Trump has fired his National Security Advisor John Bolton. This is the third National Security Advisor to have been fired by President Trump which is consistent with a pattern of firings in several other areas of administration.
I may be wrong but I think this may be a new record in the history of Executive firings by any President of the United States. And while there may not be any shedding of tears over these firings, the firing of John Bolton came as a bit of a surprise given the fact that he was politically and ideologically closer to President Trump than many in the White House.
With presidential elections just over a year from now, more firings are likely especially those who are perceived not to be unquestionably loyal to President Trump and his re-election bid. The Democratic debates have already started with some clear front runners who are already emerging such as former Vice-President Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
The choice before the American electorate is fundamentally ideological, a choice between policies that are geared to promote the interests of big business as opposed to that of the working class.
My own prediction is that the Democrats will do better this time around given the growing concern over the issues of health care, environmental policies, national security and taxation.
